Where we began…

BiancaMed Limited was founded in 2003 as a spin-off from research undertaken in UCD School of Electrical, Electronic & Mechanical Engineering in Dublin Ireland . At the core of its proprietary technology is a sensitive radio frequency motion sensor that can detect respiration and movement without being connected to the body. The sensor incorporates sophisticated biometric software that converts the motion data into a measurement of sleep.  This technology has been applied to 2 core applications: BiancaBaby- a non- contact motion and respiration sensor for babies and Sleepminder a unique non-contact sleep and respiration sensor and software for adult sleep monitoring.

Where we’re going…

BiancaMed aims to become the world leader in measuring sleep and breathing in the home.  We continue to develop new technology in the field of non- contact respiration and sleep.  BiancaMed believes that there is an irreversible trend towards  health  self-monitoring and self-medication given the unsustainable cost of healthcare. Increasing healthcare costs coupled with the rise in chronic conditions, increasing obesity and the rapid aging of the population, suggests that health management will need to shift from traditional institutional settings (such as hospitals) to people’s everyday environments, including the home.  We believe our technology will play a crucial role in the world of remote monitoring.
