BiancaMed is a medical technology company now owned by ResMed, which sells the world’s only convenient, non contact device for the monitoring  of sleep and breathing in the home.

Monitoring sleep is a multi-billion dollar market opportunity globally, part of the growing $20 billion “sleeponomics” market. It cuts across the healthcare and wellness markets, especially as the need for a home-based solution in- creases thanks to a major growth in home care and prevention as well as an increase in lifestyle concerns extending from fitness and diet to quality of sleep. The need remains mostly unmet at the moment mostly because properly measuring sleep is very difficult to do in a convenient and cost-effective manner:

The clinically accepted way, although very comprehensive, is highly inconvenient and brief as it involves getting patients to sleep in Sleep Labs, which are mostly located in clinics and hospitals. Once there, patients are connected to a polysomnography (PSG) machine for a few nights at a cost of up to $1,500 a night, recording multiple physiological variables (scaled-down PSG).

BiancaMed has developed SleepMinder (TM), a unique, contactless sleep and breathing monitoring device combining sensor, associated software and comparative data.
